Work demands interrupted the previous phase of kinetic works, and Gordon began experimenting with static sculptures, exploring a variety of processes and ideas. He briefly became interested in the elusive nature of clouds and weather, the interaction of atmospheric moisture and light, and the way we attempt to ‘fix’ them in time to display weather forecasts. He also made numerous maquettes exploring ideas for interactive sculptures that people could climb and sit on and for architectural scale sculptures in the civic domain.
